November 12, 200619 yr I recieved my mail ordered copy of FSX on Thursday and I'm still in the "findin' stuff" phase. I've done pretty well on my own (config file, camera configs, log book, etc.) except for my controls. Where are the keyboard controls, joystick axes, and joystick buttons definitions located? Help appreciated. R-
November 12, 200619 yr From the main menu where you start up FSX, click Settings > Controls. Everything you're looking for is right in there. It's also available from within the sim under Options > Settings > Controls.Jim Karn
November 12, 200619 yr Hi RonB,Same place as FS9 {menu} options > settings > controlsor from the startup menu: Settings > controlsIf you are over 60, you are forgiven for forgetting; if you under 60, then you may find a tour of the Learning Center and the SDKs to be very informative. Something new in FSX is the ability to 'unlock' the tower view and pan around. As mentioned in the Cameras SDK, there is a feature under assignments that needs a key assigned for this to work.Sudden realization the other day: XP comes on 1 CD; FSX comes on 2 DVD's. There is a learning curve! And I'm still picking up new things about FS9! What fun!Loyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro

November 12, 200619 yr >Have a look in the file Standard.XML found in the folder>:Documents and>SettingsApplication>DataMicrosoftFSXControls>Thank you Ulf, that's what I was looking for. Thanks also to Jim and Lloyd, please forgive me for not being specific enough in my question. I had used the Options menu to make some changes but I got confused when I could not find those items listed in the fsx.cfg file. Now the next question; I used Notepad to examine the contents of Standard.xml but can this file be edited? If yes, then is Notepad Ok to use as the editor? Thanks again. R-
November 13, 200619 yr R-Any text editor will do! But I think we will se more of those xml-editors in the FS community. Makes things easier. :-)Ulf B
