SX2020 sys req's help

Featured Replies

Hi

my dad used to play FSX original but stopped, now in the summer he heard about FSX2020 and instead of having to spend several hundreds of pounds upgrading to a decent gaming PC thought it would be cheaper to buy an Xbox One X for £250 as it was gunna be availablle on that too... but it isnt and there is no timeline even through one is considered as being "in the works" it sounds like its not going to happen..

I suggested at least 16GB RAM (24Gb-32Gb recommended) at least an 8-Core CPU and 1TB SSD (for installs) + 2TB HDD for temp storage  - this gae supposedly has 40,000 HD Discs worth of data to stream and would imagine it being tough system wide so no bottlenecks..

can anyone help as everyone know the "minimum requirements" just arent up to the real task.

thanks

i forgot too add he only uses a 1080p@60Hz IPS 23" monitor so no 4K horsepower needed

I would say that is a decent basis for a PC to run MSFS, but unlike previous flight simulators that were governed by the speed of your CPU, it is really apparent that MSFS actually needs a really good graphics card now (and will do so even more when it switches to DX12, possibly within the next 12 months).

If he only uses 1080P resolution, then he may get away with a bargain on something like an old GTX1080 or 1080Ti (or the equivalent AMD card).

I actually run 4k now on my 1080Ti but with settings mainly on high rather than ultra.  So he could maybe get away with a 1070 even at his resolutions. 👍

Also, could be some good deals coming up on 20xx series now the 30xx series is out.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.
