I appreciate what FSLTL are doing, but it was fine before Asobo moved the goalposts on the LODs, causing people all this extra work for no good reason.

I thought the drag issue had been fixed in 7.1. Or it that just for the people in the beta? I am tempted to get this. It is my kind of plane, but I am just not enjoying the sim at the monument. As you can see in AvAngels video review, the sim still has the problem with the jarring delayed rendering when entering the cockpit. It's appalling. I have never known another sim do this since the Sinclair Spectrum days.

Is this the AT Simulations that did the excellent Piaggio P.149D for MSFS 2020? I loved that aircraft. Broken in MSFS 2024, but I wish they would fix it.

Excellent! I am definitely interested in this. I used to help manufacture the windscreen panels for those, and the Nimrod Maritime Patrol aircraft, which many might not know was based on the Comet Airliner. The original Sud Caravelle nose section was taken from the Comet as well. I wonder what happened to the MSFS Caravelle being developed by Airplane Heaven? It was down as a projected Famous Flyer at one stage. Although if the Airplane Heaven B707 was anything to go by, they don't seem too good at airliners! 🙄 I would love to see this Comet in a Dan Air livery. I used to see them all the time at London Gatwick and often wondered how they made a profit with such few seats and poor fuel economy.

Yes, and unsurprisingly, we never got any feedback. They very rarely come back to us after they say they will investigate and report back. All trust is gone for me.

I am not claiming it is due to the consoles, but some adjustements have been made to the PC version. However, MS / Asobo will either stay quiet on this, or claim they don't see it and / or no changes have been made as far as they are concerned. With this and other issues that remain unaddressed, especially the LOD issues, I have a lack of trust for the people behind the platform now. I feel they are gradually pulling the rug out from under us with what was essentially a good sim a while ago. Such a pity. Still, we have the air races and all those Lufthansa anniversary liveries we all asked for - important stuff! 🙄

Six years down the line and they still cannot stop this from happening. My Tobii settings are completely wiped again.

So what is the technical explanation for how the fix works? And if it really does, why did Asobo (namely our old favourite, Martial) blame Nvidia and run away?

I have done: BUY - STORE AND FORGET for so many aircraft. I bought the Tristar months ago and haven't given it a go yet. I downloaded all of the liveries though! 🙄 This is one of the reasons I have stopped buying lately. It's not that I can't afford it; it just seems like a waste. It 's not so much due to the aircraft, the majority of which are spectacular now, but because I have fallen out of love with the sim just lately.

The Hawk Jon. Based on your comment it sounds like it might be better then. I suppose the only way is to download the latest version and give it a go. I've not flown around Wales for a while anyway. 🙂

I always had the rolling cache off in 2020. I left it enabled in 2024 because I was told that was the way to go, but now it seems better to disable it? I have a 500 connection, so unless there is a lot of server lag, I presume it wont be a problem disabling the cache.

I haven't tried it in over a year. I found it required lots of trimming for changes in speed. I know this is a thing, but I was constantly on the trim and it felt a bit much, certainly much more than any other similar plane in the sim. It kind of hunted on the trim / speed I found. Is it still like this?

Nothing to see here. At every update, I look for a sign that they have reversed things like the terrible LOD changes since SU4 (probably never going to happen) and corrected simple regressions like the POI overexposed night lighting issue (again) - Is it really that hard when they know how to do it as they corrected it once before? I have barely flown since SU4, and it is getting to the stage where I have almost given up now. Looking back, I probably spent too much time on it and invested in it too much. I can see I allocated too much importance to it. I have found there are other more useful and satisfying things that hold my attention now rather than this, and I have saved hundreds a month by not buying addons, and it shows on my credit card balance, so not all bad. For those that don't want to sit all through the video, the synopsis is... She doesn't like the training lock-in and does not like to pay for things she doesn't want. She thinks it is a mediocre aircraft in isolation, and she will not fly it again. Some people don't like her style, but she has been around for a while, and I trust her opinion.

I will think of something else to say tomorrow to support this wonderful life-changing sim with faults we must simply all overlook and not talk about in case we hurt its feelings. This is EXACTLY how I feel. Seb's 'lecture' on LODs is not what we needed - he needs to listen to the problem. His surprise at the wheels issue, and especially saying it is a 'per aircraft' thing again, proves they are disconnected in some ways. Disappointing.

I really don't think Ryan meant it that way. I had to work all through as well, and harder as you say while others were isolating, but I didn't take his generalised remark as a slight in any way.

. That's another side affect of the Asobo LOD adjustments. I get this with lots of scenery / ground objects, and it is also what causes the missing wheel problems, and I believe linked to the slow rendering in the cockpit when going from inside to external view then back again, when the sim choses to flush the previous rendering and build up the cockpit from lower LODs again. I never had any of these issues during SU3, I was loving the sim. They started at SU4 for me when they made the 'optimisations'. 🙄 I might phrase a question for the Q&A, but then my last one on the DX12 ground tiles going missing was pushed of by Martial saying 'well it's a big world to cover'. This caused a riot in the live text, causing Jorg to intervene and asking Martial to maybe take another look at the issue. It was fixed at next update, after a 14 months of asking, Jorg is a great champion of the sim and the only one I have any respect for on these Q&A sessions. I wouldn't pay the other character in chocolate buttons!

Any way of stopping forum access to the one line bots that continually spout nonsense? 🙄 It kind of dilutes the conversation to a farce. But maybe that is their point. Maybe I try a block for the first time. I wouldn't be missing anything useful. 🙂

It can say 'too many requests' but I tried it a while later and I got in. Probably being bombarded by requests for that page at the moment. I have tried the drivers. As expected, no discernible difference. I never had the flickering problem as I missed the dodgy driver that caused them.
