  1. I can't vote as the lowest date is 2028, and for me it is all but over currently with the terrible LOD, the kludge when changing views, and other issues. I barely use it now, and if I do I am hardly in there for 20 minutes before I get fed up of all the idiosyncrasies and quit out. At least I have saved hundreds in addons over the last few months (since SU4 took it the wrong way). And the marketplace is dead to me anyway after the MScenery scandal that took too long to shut down, and even now still has scams on there. They knew about it for so long but didn't care about us did they? And I don't particularly want a newer 2028 version so that I have to buy all of my addons again. That was one of the biggest lies they made about 2024. After 30 odd years of flight simming, and quite frankly sick of MS and Asobo. I think I am finally done with it and will move on to other things.
  2. ...with 15% off as a limited time deal. I might finally go for it now. In the meantime, has anybody got any comments on the performance of the Tristar in the sim with the latest update? I am a bit worried about that. I notice they offer to transfer the marketplace purchase to their store as well now. I might even pick up the new Corfu airport while I am there.
  3. You're an old cynic! 😄 You should have an 'Old Cynic' T-shirt made for our upcoming UK flight sim meet, if it happens - I hope so. Although, if that picture of you is accurate, I will need one made out as 'The Older Cynic' for me. 🙃
  4. True about the steam gauge Carenado's that's for sure. It is disheartening, but MSFS is still the best sim we have I think. I just wish they could knock some of the sharp edges off and I would want to fly a lot more.
  5. Yes, I know what you mean. I have not had good experiences myself either, and I have had a few questions batted away by Martial in the Twitch sessions. The one where we were all getting tile bleed through at airports was pushed away with 'well, the world is a big place'. Ultimately some who had joined the twitch session convinced Jorg to push Martial to take another look at the issue, otherwise it would have just been left. And then you get the usual guardians shouting you down, or belittling the issues anyway. It makes you want to give up. On the regressions, it seems they have slightly different teams doing different SU's at different times from what I can gather. So one team might be on say SU5 using SU4 as a base, and another working further ahead on SU6, using SU4 as a base as well (as it is all they have at that stage). so then, sometimes better code from SU5 gets missed for inclusion in SU6. That is the only way I can figure out the regressions, but ultimately it is down to poor quality control, as we have known for quite some time now.
  6. It has always been the same for me since SU4. It never got any better with SU5 as I don't think they changed anything to do that. It can just appear better sometimes depending on the various aircraft and scenery in use. I have found steam gauge aircraft perform the worst for me. I love to fly the Piper Dakota but not really touched it since SU4 other than to test at each update - in hope! I don't fly much these days anyway, mainly due to this issue, but I keep holding out hope they can reverse / fix the issue. Apparently it is by design rather than a bug, but I don't understand why MS / Asobo don't see it. It is all over YouTube with the various content creators every time they chance view from inside to outside and back again. Some actually video edit a fade in/out or edit it out completely now in the videos.
  7. Well it is for me. Why on earth loading times are related to what frame rate you set in the sim is beyond me. Maybe someone might have a technical explanation for it? In the main I would say the biggest difference noticeable is when locked at 30 fps in sim. Loading takes a lot longer for me compared to 60 fps. Really strange!
  8. Here's one for you... I used have a fixed frame rate of 30 (doubled to 60 in the sim with frame generation). Once, I set 60 fps in sim (no fg) just to try it for a while. Next time loading the sim loaded almost twice as fast. A strange bug. I now set 60 or unlimited before quitting so it loads faster next time in, then on loading set it to 30 fps plus framegen again before the pc gets to hot. You might not believe me but try it yourself if you normally lock at 30 fps. I have no idea why this should be.
  9. For all of Asobo's attempts at improving VRAM issues and general performance (without affecting anything else), it seems beyond them. Things looked quite promising and stable earlier in the year, then in SU4 they introduced the ridiculous object culling that gives you that stupid kludge of the delayed rendering every time you change views, and more scenery pop ups due to messing with the LOD settings. I don't know any other sim that does this slow re-rendering between views, it appalling and looks like something going back to Commodore Amiga days.
  10. As others have said, these types of freezes are normally hardware related, not software. The last time I had these types of hardware issues (freezes / bluescreens etc.) was just after MSFS2020 released. I traced it to my RAM going bad. I put it through the BIOS RAM test and it kept failing every time after just a few seconds. It passed the test fully multiple times when I originally built the PC about two and a half years earlier. This is the second time this has happened to me in the last 12 years, and with complete new builds. Basically, RAM can degrade over time, just like CPU's can, especially when run on XMP. Nothing wrong with XMP; that is why we buy at that specification of course, but some brands seem to degrade, and sometimes it is just the random hardware lottery you get. Some can last for years and years at XMP settings, while others not so long. I solved my issue by purchasing new RAM (which would be painful at the moment with the prices) and putting it through the BIOS test - perfect results. As I wanted to preserve my RAM I run at XMP minus 800, all good. Some gaming tests there is less than 5% performance difference between standard RAM base clocks such as 3200 / 3600 and XMP settings anyway. I have done quick tests running mine at 5200 and 6000 and couldn't see any noticeable performance issue at the lower setting, so 5200 it is for me to take some of the heat and load off it - I wouldn't want to have to replace it at the moment!
  11. Yes. No surprises that I couldn't translate it with my limited Finish language skills! 🤪 But we know what the OP meant by the first post. This was actually raised to Asobo in one of the Twitch development sessions and they denied all knowledge of any change but said they would look into it. We hear this a lot don't we. For the English speaking - a Translation... Ilmakuvien tarkkuus refers to the level of detail and spatial accuracy of aerial photographs. It is most commonly defined by Ground Sample Distance (GSD), which indicates the real-world size represented by a single pixel, alongside the image's overall geometrical accuracy for mapping purposes. Hei!
  12. Amongst all the humour, there is a valid point. Yet another recent downgrade. For the sake of the consoles or bandwidth costs? You decide.
  13. Mad! I really wanted an AA-5, OR a Commander 114. Now we get three versions of the AA-5, and two versions of the Commander 114 at the same time! If we get the B737-200 and DC-10 this year, that would go a considerable way to filling my hangar wish list. 😀
  14. And yet there is still nothing of any substance here. The video of a single aircraft taxiing like any other aircraft would is absolutely worthless and I am wondering why the OP doesn't understand this. Can anyone tell me what use the video is or what it demonstrates? I actually thought it might be a joke. I hope the OP can cease all this and come back when he has something worth looking at, but by the previous taste of his marketing technique based around teasers and easter eggs, he probably thinks 'look! I am creating a stir!'. 🙄 Currently, this is just a big waste of time and energy all round, whichever side of the argument you are on. The people who are ranting and virtue posturing in defence of the 'product' and/or developer are doing it over vapourware at the moment. Comical in itself!
  15. Like many other Avsim-ers it seems, I'm a bit past 'teasers' and 'Easter eggs', and I really don't like this kind of marketing. I'll maybe come back when there is something tangible.
  16. Looking forward to SU6 beta as well. Unfortunately, no news on that yet.
  17. I had the Captainsim B737-200 (back when Captiansim had different staff/owners and were good), and I absolutely loved it. Their other Boings were quite good as well, including probably the best 707 we have ever had in simming. I would love the B737-100/200 to come along with all those classic airline schemes; a DC-10 would be great as well.
  18. I'm not. They used to be a good company, but things change. Surely they must have recognised the issues before releasing it, just by doing a quick performance test, so then why release it? Anyway, I have been severely disappointed by their products I have bought since MSFS, and I swore I would never buy anything of theirs again, and this kind of thing just reinforces it.
  19. So how did you fix it? Or was it just the usual MSFS randomness?
  20. Well, 'real men' can wear pink and get away with it. 😁 PS. Please don't ask me to define a 'real man' or we will go down the rabbit hole of woke doom! 😆
  21. I can't believe people still listen to him. He says this on virtually every new driver release and recycles all of his usual stuff. Still, he gets the clicks he wants I suppose.
  22. A man called Bruce flying mainly in Australia? Unusual! I agree not as much improvement as in 2020, but it still makes a worthwhile improvement for me, depending on which presets selected of course.
  23. Overwhelming? More modern day hyperbole that people seem to perpetuate these days. The program just does what it is supposed to. I have had it since 2020.
