  1. Like many other Avsim-ers it seems, I'm a bit past 'teasers' and 'Easter eggs', and I really don't like this kind of marketing. I'll maybe come back when there is something tangible.
  2. Looking forward to SU6 beta as well. Unfortunately, no news on that yet.
  3. I had the Captainsim B737-200 (back when Captiansim had different staff/owners and were good), and I absolutely loved it. Their other Boings were quite good as well, including probably the best 707 we have ever had in simming. I would love the B737-100/200 to come along with all those classic airline schemes; a DC-10 would be great as well.
  4. I'm not. They used to be a good company, but things change. Surely they must have recognised the issues before releasing it, just by doing a quick performance test, so then why release it? Anyway, I have been severely disappointed by their products I have bought since MSFS, and I swore I would never buy anything of theirs again, and this kind of thing just reinforces it.
  5. So how did you fix it? Or was it just the usual MSFS randomness?
  6. Well, 'real men' can wear pink and get away with it. 😁 PS. Please don't ask me to define a 'real man' or we will go down the rabbit hole of woke doom! 😆
  7. I can't believe people still listen to him. He says this on virtually every new driver release and recycles all of his usual stuff. Still, he gets the clicks he wants I suppose.
  8. A man called Bruce flying mainly in Australia? Unusual! I agree not as much improvement as in 2020, but it still makes a worthwhile improvement for me, depending on which presets selected of course.
  9. Overwhelming? More modern day hyperbole that people seem to perpetuate these days. The program just does what it is supposed to. I have had it since 2020.
  10. I find Rex Atmos helps, depending on which presets you select of course. I like the AB presets. As for the poor cloud shapes, nothing you can do unfortunately.
  11. Well this is all as clear as mud. So can someone answer the simple question, does it work on Nvidia cards?
  12. Yes the do. If they make this sim geared for the xbox I will simply stop using it. I have already not flown for nearly a month due to the various issues, the main one being the slow cockpit loading that is visible on plenty of content makers YouTube videos. I would have spent 200 on various content from the market place since just before the Tristar release, but I won't at the moment as I consider it a waste. If they want to hand it over to xbox and PlayStation users they can, but they won't get the loyalty and spending that pc users bring.
  13. Thanks for the info Paul, plus I don't have any of those books. Highways To The Empire is about £33 used on Amazon and even £30 on eBay! I might see if I can pick up a used copy from some of the other online bookshops as that one would definitely interest me.
  14. Yes. The 2024 version has not been well received, with some people saying it is not as good as the 2020 version even. I used to like BlackBox as they were always prepared to have a go at aircraft others wouldn't, like the Bulldog and shorts 330/360 etc., but they just don't keep up with the sim and general customer expectations. Obviously, I don't expect miracles from them, but they just seem to come up short.
  15. I bought it and enjoyed it. Of course, the pack came with the single engine version as well which was a bit of a different challenge. It has been hinted at that the whole pack will be updated for 24 soon (I suppose this is the start of it). I always find watching a few YouTube videos helps to pique your interest and make you want to give them a go. The one where they were climbing out onto the wing to top up the oil in flight was pure class An amazing story.
  16. Why is it that you guys have to resort to personal insults over somebody's choice of what flight sim they want to use? Seems a bit extreme don't you think if you have to resort to this to kind of language to defend your favourite toy, which is ultimately just a thing putting pixels on a screen.
  17. Please don't apologise for disagreeing. You have personal experience to back it up. It seems widely accepted that having it on can use more VRAM. I checked mine last night just out of interest. Mine is off and I have no performance issues, or undue stuttering. So off it stays!
  18. We have been down this road many times before. Early testing with the sim showed a very slightly lower performance in MSFS with it set to on, while some other titles benefited slightly. Basically it doesn't make much difference. Whichever way you set it and whatever PC spec you have, if you set it in a way that might give you that extra little bit of performance, you are not going to suddenly jump up and say 'Wow!'. There are dozens of things that can affect performance far more than messing with REBAR, as we all know. With no significant difference either way I would say it is not worth worrying about it in MSFS. If you have a few games on the same PC that do benefit with it on (I think Cyberpunk 2077 was one that was tested as better, from 71 to 72 fps! ), then set it to on and leave it to help them. It won't affect MSFS much. There is some commentary on the internet that REBAR on can cause stuttering due to increased VRAM usage (very dependent on GPU of course). Probably wasted too much breath on it already for something of such low significance in MSFS, and in general.
  19. Never had an issue since 2020? Not even the multitude of issues even MS / Asobo admitted to have been an issue and have put right in various sim updates and ultra long patch notes, probably thousands of fixes? I can't take this seriously if this is the case, as this must either be a joke or you are blind to them. PS. I had to stop watching your video when you said not to have MS Office installed on the same PC as MS2024. Absolute rubbish.
  20. It can vary saint. Aircraft with steam gauges seem to come off worse, and as I saw you said before, it can vary dependent on where you fly and how complex the scenery is. I suppose when the scenery is heavy it culls more, when it is light it maybe doesn't have to, but not really that much difference for me. Although this is for slow cockpit rendering. For traffic without wheels, it seems to happen everywhere. And with the pop-in objects at close range (even with high LOD set such as 400), I am not technical enough to know if it is a LOD issue or culling, or both. I am not bothered really as long as they can make it better. All I know is I never had anything like this in SU3, and I still had scintillating performance, smooth as silk then.
  21. That's an excellent idea. It would probably solve my biggest gripes. Mine was all fine at SU3, and performance was still good then before this SU4 and SU5 'optimisation'.
  22. The culling is still too severe. They said they would adjust it to be less aggressive in early SU5 notes, but I don't see any difference. My belief is that this 'optimisation' was done for the consoles, in part at least, and this issue is also what causes the delayed rendering kludge when moving between cockpit and outside view and back, which I have not seen in any other sim since probably the late nineties. It's absolute garbage. Still, at least while the kids can marvel over their 240 fps, I have saved loads of money. No point rebuying the PMDG 737 again and things like the TriStar, just to load them into a sandpit full of mud. What's the point of spending loads of money on these things with a super accurate looking cockpit while I look out of the windscreen to see jets without wheels while my instruments slowly draw back in? Absolutely no point I would say.
  23. The thing is, how would we know? Even actual pilots of the same jet disagree on things like the A320.
  24. I also had the backwards / forwards movement working perfectly fine in the previous version before SU5. I believe if all of the if the 'Head Tracking Position sensitivities' were not set above 0 in the original in-game settings, then backwards / forwards movement didn't work, so for SD_Flyer, this may not have been set correctly originally. The only thing that changed on mine between SU4 and SU5 was the movement sensitivities, which were way too strong. Mine are now very similar to yours, with all the head tracking settings for yaw, pitch, and roll set exactly the same as yours, at set really low at 0.2, 0.15, and 0.1. Works well!
  25. I don't understand why you did this Fielder. The final SU5 beta will simply convert to the full release version anyway when Asobo choose to make it live.
