November 15, 200619 yr i have fsx running pretty well on my laptop (avg 20-25 fps). i love the detailed land textures. i cant run any autogen at all (even with all the tweaks} but really dont feel the need for it in fsx .however, fsx is a dead, steril world for me. even at full air traffic and full airport vehicles (total fps killers for me) i still do not see any planes or anything else at even large airports. not one. my fps drops to 8-9 with the above settings but i dont see anything.i can comfortably run 50% auto traffic and see cars/trucks ONLY on the very largest highways. i see zero auto traffic anywhere else.do any of you have any suggestions as to how i can see vehicles on smaller roads and maybe see a few other aircraft/support vehicles at airports?your help is appreciatedotter
November 15, 200619 yr Hi,Sorry, road traffic is only on the main roads.Re: your problem of not seeing any AI aircraft, do you have the AI Commercial and GA traffic checkboxes checked in Settings?Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page

November 16, 200619 yr Author I've never used AI before, but I wanted to play with it today and turned it on and turned Commercial and GA traffic to 100%. I'm just using the default traffic, with textures replaced with real airlines for the A321, 737, 747, CRJ, DHC8, and MD83. At KBOS, I immediately see tons of traffic. Then I moved to KASH. And there was nuthin'. So I took off, flew to KMHT and there was a little heavy iron there but not much. But after about 10 or 15 minutes of flying around, traffic started to appear all over the place. My point - I'm not sure, but you may have to wait a while in out of the way places. First, I'd suggest going to an airport you know will have lots of traffic and make sure you see it. If not, make sure you didn't disable the traffic files in the FSXSceneryworldscenery directory. My second point - My computer is only a Dell D810 laptop 1.86 GHz Pentium M with 64 MB ATI Mobility X300 graphics and 2GB ram. Even so, flying the Carenado Mentor around KBOS I was getting between 6 and 9 fps, a bit jerky but flyable. Around KASH and KMHT I was getting 9 to 15 (my max setting) fps. I'm a little shocked. I'm not sure what's going on as I was expecting far less than that with full traffic on. I did apply the "Turn off the 2.0 Shaders" thing to my display.cfg file, but I don't even know if that did anything. I was also having an issue at KBOS that after flying for a while, my ai would stay transparent and not go solid. But then I found an issue that I had incorrectly referenced a texture directory for one of the AI A321 paints, and I haven't seen that problem since. But it could be I was not flying around the airport long enough after I fixed it. (Don't you hate researchers who don't test every detail and set up controls and all that, which makes their info useless! :) ). Anyway, just some anecdotal comments. But I'm encouraged. And this was with Textures set between 5 m and 2 m (I tried both, and got similar results), Terrain mesh at 38 m, complexity max and scenery complexity max and autogen normal, LOD Medium, Cloud Coverage detailed high, all ground traffic off, with settings of Bandwidth_Mult=40 and Trees/cell=4500, Bldgs/Cell=3000, water 1.x high, and bloom, shadows, and Lens Flare off, .Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
