November 16, 200619 yr ...like me, running with an onboard soundcard? If so, do what I did tonight, and add a cheap ($59.95) PCI soundcard (creative X-gadget...bestbuy on sale) and you'll be pleasantly surprised.Smoother, a few more frames, and better sound to boot.Every bit helps!Cheers,bt
November 16, 200619 yr That's because a nice Audigy or the likes has hardware designed to do what most on-board sound devices get the system CPU to do, taking precious cycles away from other things, like maintaining 4fps :)
November 16, 200619 yr Just thought I would share. When I built my new system, I tried to 'cheep" on sound.Don't work!bt
November 16, 200619 yr I found out the hard way many moons ago as well :) Don't feel bad. The best thing aboot learning things the hard way, is that its actually less frequent to make that same mistake over again. :)
November 16, 200619 yr Hmmmmm... I have 7.1 onboard sound, maybe I'll pick up an early Christmas present to myself, an X-FI!.:(
November 16, 200619 yr THats right! My 3rd mortgage on my house should be approved tonight! Then I'm gonna go out and buy my fourth system for FSX. I'll get it right one of these years.

November 16, 200619 yr You can now try out that dual channel sound thing that FSX supposedly supports, although I'm not sure if it's worth it if it causes a drop in peformance.
