Most popular trainer?

Featured Replies

I was wondering what is the most popular (i.e. widespread) trainer for PPL and IR, both in USA and the rest of the world. C172, maybe? And then?Marco

I wouldn't be suprised at the following:C152 for PPL.Arrow IV (non-turbo) for CPLSeneca III for IR: Has an artificial 1999kg MAUW to prevent airways charges.

In the US it is probably 172 followed by variations of the PA-28 airframe. I would not be surprised if the PA-28 is number one either. I would think the 150 would be third behind those two. In the states most people use a non-complex aircraft for the bulk of the training and get the minimum hours of complex time when it comes time for the commercial check ride. This is obviously for economic reasons. the same goes for instrument training. Same goes for instrument training. For twin training the Seminole and Duchess are the most common. Again this is due to economic reasons as well as availability. You will find many more of these two airframes available for training. Some folk
