December 9, 20205 yr Hi All, I hop everyone is well. New member, so please be gentle. I am 53 years of age, live in Melbourne, Australia (yes, the one that was in lockdown for 7 months) and have been flying simulators since the early 2000's. I love it and find it relaxing. I use to take some flying lessons many moons ago, but after being diagnosed with Menieres, I gave that up. Pretty hard to fly when suffering vertigo. Hahaha. I am not sure if I am posting in the right area. If I have not, I apologize. I have searched this issue I am having, but have had no luck as yet finding a solution. Up until last night, everything was running perfectly. However, tonight I when tried to launch MSFS2020, it keep opening up the Microsoft Store. I have updated the store and also updated Windows. All to no avail. I am hesitant to reinstall MSFS2020 as I am on a slow internet speed and to download the updates etc would take me weeks. I spent $200 AUD on this game plus over a thousand more on Peripherals and now cannot even launch it. I have read numerous post, but none are helpful. If anyone can shed some light on this problem, I would really appreciate it. Thank you all in advance
December 9, 20205 yr Welcome to Avsim! You say MSFS takes you to the store. So far so good since there was an update yesterday from MS which affects the MSFS launcher exe which is updated via the MS store. You should see there an update for MSFS. Run that, launch then MSFS again and report back what happens. EDIT in case you did update the launcher to v1.10.7 and are still carried to the MS Store then this may hopefully help: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/microsoft-flight-simulator-icon-takes-me-to-gaming-services-page-in-microsoft-store/259702 greetings DAD Edited December 9, 20205 yr by DAD Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
December 9, 20205 yr This may not help you at all, but I ran into that very same issue twice. Having tried everything I could think of I ended up klicking on "Install" within the marketplace, got an error message and had not other opportinity than to abort the installation and was asked if I really wanted to as that would delete the game - and it did! The second time I tried with the "reset" option in the Apps menu of windows with the same result - the game got deleted. So my only advice ist not to try "install" or "reset" until you have tried other methods you may come across. I think it has to do with the marketplace updates, esp. the XBox gaming services, being in place before MSFS is launched. As soon as there's something stuck, the sh** hits the fan. Good luck though. It might be the only option. Once you do though consider making a copy of the "official" folder. Its 100GB. Place this somewhere else and rename it. When you ever need to reinstall the sim simply start the reinstall for a bit. Then pause and quit. It will have built out the file structure. You can then add the junk of the 100GB sim back in saving on download time.
December 9, 20205 yr People continue to have the same problems since august smh. If the game is taking you to the windows store, then its obvious its for an update. It did the same thing to me and when it did, I just left it for about a min, then its starts downloading. No issues at all. Sometimes I have to wonder if all these problem threads are actually real problems or people just trolling smh
December 9, 20205 yr Author Thank you all for your help. I will try these all tonight when I get home and report back. FYI - devgrp - Yes, my thread is an actual problem for me and after searching last night, I have realised that I am not the only one with this problem. However, I have tried them all and have had no luck with any of them. Hence why I joined this forum last night to try and find so help. I am not too computer savvy, but have installed all the updates for MSFS2020 and also MS. I can assure you that I am not trolling. Thank you for your input. I appreciate it.
December 10, 20205 yr Author Hi again all, Just want to say a big thank you for everyone's help. I finally got MSFS to launch. They issue I found was that Microsoft Store last night did not fully download the Flight Sim update. For some reason it paused it (most likely I did by mistake). Just before I started the download again and also updated Windows 10 as I saw that there was an update pending. Restarted my computer and launched the sim with no probs. Thank you all again for your help.
