Since Ive downloaded a few freware files which have this problem, I thought it may be worth posting the solution:

Start the registry editor (regedit.exe)

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem.

Double click LongPathsEnabled.

Set to 1 and click OK.

Reboot.

Hope this is of help to anyone.
