December 14, 20205 yr As an OnAir member, I wanted to do their Christmas Challenge and based on the way the event is designed, I figured MSFS would be the most enjoyable platform. I didnt own it at the time but did Alpha and Beta test it. Seeing a more finished platform there are a few things that really impressed me. 1st was for the challenge the user has to stay below 500'AGL and by flying over bodies of land and water, I loved how there is thermal turbulence over land and it gets smooth over water. The ripple patterns on the water is a small be such realistic detail that has been missing. Also the wave action, amazing to me. I mean Earth surface is mostly water after all. The lighting is spot on for bright in your face sunlight and how it reflects of the windscreen and make it hard to see the panel sometimes, so true to life. I'm happy just flying the C152. I know there are a lot of simmers who are into flying the big study level planes but from my understanding, the core sim is not fully matured that way yet so why force it. I feel they have all the weather elements there it just needs to get worked out better with live weather. I wont be using this sim much yet as I'm loving what I have in other sims I have built up to my likings but looking forward to one day having this as I main sim. The UI is still a big setback though when it comes to setting up controllers and the options available to be controlled or assigned. No Primer hotkey, no Carb Heat axis and such.
