REVIEW: MK Studios Dublin (EIDW)

Greetings one and all. My MK Studios Dublin review is now up:

Good review.

A couple of comments meant as constructive criticism:

1. Most of the fades to black cut out the view just as the footage was becoming really interesting / useful. IMO, a shorter fade and letting the footage roll longer after you finish a sentence would've been better.

2. Perhaps talk about what sort of performance you are getting? Compared against the default EIDW, what FPS drop do you see? Are there any performance black spots in scenery, e.g. on final or on apron looking towards the city centre?

Look forward to the next one.

Thank you for the feedback. I've just re-watched this and  you're quite right about the fades to black happening too soon. I hadn't noticed before and it'll something I'll work on fixing in future videos.

With regards to performance, I tend to only talk about this when there are noticeable stutters. This is mostly because it's actually very rare that I notice any difference in performance at all. In previous sims, I regularly looked at my FPS but I've made a conscious decision to leave that behind me, partly because MSFS performs incredibly well on my system compared with any other sim (I've just done an EGLL 27R approach, and I can't get over the fact that I can fly over the most realistic incarnation of London ever without a single stutter!), partly because I haven't found much of a link between FPS and perception of smoothness, and partly because I don't want to go back down the rabbit hole of spending hours tweaking just to get a slightly higher framerate.

Out of something like 30 airports I've reviewed, I've only noticed a performance impact twice - with Digital Design's Salzburg and Flightbeam's Washington Dulles - and I mentioned it both times. With Salzburg, people on here with very similar systems to mine mentioned that it ran perfectly smoothly for them. So, even if I did do side-by-side FPS comparisons, I don't think that would provide much meaningful insight to anyone, because MSFS is such a strange beast in this way. Anyway, that's a far more in depth look at the rationale behind me not doing performance comparisons than anyone (including I) could ever have wanted! In a nutshell - I don't notice a performance impact from 95% of add-on sceneries.
