New Honeycomb yoke loose USB-C cable issue

Featured Replies

So, I finally got my new Alpha yoke after months of maneuvering and waiting ... and I have a problem:   the USB-C cable  just barely makes a connection in the receptacle on the back of the yoke, it doesn’t go in far enough to be very secure.  So if you so much as blink at it it disconnects.  The cable itself looks fine, but to me it seems like the receptacle is recessed inside the back plate a tad (like, a sub-millimeter amount) more than it could be, and the cable’s housing is too big to fit into the plastic slot.  That combination means it’s just barely inserted - sorta like when you get too much pocket lint in your phone charging port.

Does this issue sound familiar to anyone?  I’ve opened a ticket with Honeycomb, really hoping there’s a solution that doesn’t involve waiting for months ... I’m inclined to take a Dremel to the slot if it comes to that and just make it big enough that the cable seats.  Still, this thing is almost $300, probably shouldn’t need to do that ...

Known issue they have dealt with in production. Contact them if you want.

Yep, they were extremely responsive.  There have been some issues with rear panel alignment and properly seating the PCB with the USB connector, and they walked through those fixes with me on a Skype call.  Interestingly, it ended up just being a crappy USB-C cable - once I bought another and tried it, it was fine.  So, apparently sometimes the included cable is bad.
