November 26, 200619 yr I love the AI vehicle traffic in FSX, but it seems like only freeways/divided major highways have traffic. Is there a way to add AI traffic in varying amounts to all roads (every road other than highways would generate a far lesser level of traffic, but enough to be realistic)?Adding that and the occasional cargo ship on Lake Michigan would certainly improve the FSX experience for me.Maybe an idea for a freeware or payware addon - someone could throw in a bunch of AI deer, birds, cows, etc.
November 26, 200619 yr I have noticed this too. I would like to have a few cars on secondary roads. Wouldn't have to be a lot.
November 26, 200619 yr I've noticed that some of the (what look like) major roads have no traffic either. Some might say "Why have extra traffic when my system can't cope with the traffic that's there now". To this all I can say is, if someone comes up with extra vehicles, you don't have to have them.:-)
November 27, 200619 yr As silly as it sounds, the vehicle traffic livens the place up, but I get the same problem that it only seems to show up on highways and not arterial roads.Boats are good as well, buzzed an aircraft carrier in my Cessna. :)
November 27, 200619 yr I have been working on a jeep model and found the traffic a hootto try and keep up with , the cars go around corners like they were onrails .. and thinking about rails why no trains ?There are a lot of XML driven animations in this , the dice and gps bracket react to road conditions ,the driver shifts gears , opens and closes the door , all custom gauges , i even fixed the landing light problem in FSX upgradesThe FS9 and FSX version of this should hit Avsim by the weekendits a great way to look the new sim over
November 27, 200619 yr It looks great! Keep up the good work. I look forward to driving it.Best regards, Chris
November 27, 200619 yr I'm currently adding a road traffic function to my AutoAsm scenery design program. If you can import suitable data then you could certainly add traffic to a selection of roads.Unfortunately the methods documented in the SDK are not very flexible. You can specify how many traffic lanes and which directions they flow, but there's no direct control over traffic density or what kind of vehicles. Traffic density appears to be controlled by a global population density value, so if you wanted to add a single lane to a busy highway and a nearly deserted back road, they would both have the same traffic density. Hopefully there will be more SDK's that will give more detailed control over animated objects.Best regards, Chris
