Howdy, I'm not quite sure what is going on with FSM, but sometimes, actually most times with I fly, every eonce in a while the game will freeze for a few seconds, and everything outside of the cockpit will turn a shade of white. The red text on the screen such as the "brakes," "stall," "zoom," etc. text will turn into a splochy set of red blocks, and trees and bulindings will turn into simple squares ans triangles. Then, poof everything will be abck to normal. This happnes alot if I am changing cockpits, i.e. from 2d to 3d. Sometimes it happens when I change something in the menu during flight. That is a known problem. You can get rid of that by disabling cockpit tooltips when flying in full screen mode. If you want tooltips, then you have to fly in windowed mode.I am not an expert, but it is something with ATI and shaders.
