I fixed my Autopilot problem!!!

Featured Replies

Ever since I started using the release version of MSFS , I have been unable to get the autopilot working consistently. Sometimes it would work fine, and other times it would try to kill me... (I was an Alpha tester, and the AP worked pretty well in the Alphas) (Well, by comparison...)

Well, today I finally found out what my problem was!

I have been using the Simionic MFD and PFD on two old ipads so I could fly with just an outside view, or at least as much as the MSFS camera system will allow. This works through a plugin on my PC, of course. Yesterday, I was experimenting with the Beta version of Air Manager and found that my autopilots were working!! I tried a couple of different aircraft and everything worked well. I even conducted the first airline flight that I have been able to do in MSFS, and it all worked as advertised. Today, I was doing the same thing, cruising along in the Cessna Latitude under autopilot. For some reason, IĀ  decided to fire up the Simionic and as soon as the plugin connected, the autopilot kicked off and acted the way it had previously. Hmmmmmmm...

I shut down the Simionic plugin, and my autopilot was back!!

As I think back, I'm pretty sure that any time the AP worked in the past, I was not using the Simionics, and I know I wasn't using them in the Alphas!

So...

If any of you have been using the Simionic stuff and have AP problems, try turning them off and see if it helps.
