January 6, 20215 yr I've started having problems with my controls for MSFS. I have CH Pro Pedals, Saitek Throttle Quadrant, a Logitech Joystick, a Goflight LGT11and a Vrinsight MCU all connected via a USB 3.0 Compatibld Hub which is plugged into a USB 3.0 socket (Blue) They have started to freeze during operation, particularly noticeable during taxi, take off, approach and landing. The Main problem is the throttle, Rudder and joystick freezing for about 10 seconds, which means I taxi on to the grass or into buildings, or the controls freezing during landing The mouse which is also connected wirelessly to the hub is not affected, and can be used to pull throttle back if quick enough. Any ideas how to stop this problem which has started in the last 10 days or so.
January 6, 20215 yr In the history of my cockpit project, it seemed like every time I was having USB controls dropping or freezing, it was because they weren't getting enough power. It took me forever to figure this out but it is quick to check. Look up the power requirements of all your USB devices, add them up, and compare to the power rating on the powered USB hub. Of course, allow for 20% or so overhead. If the sum of all the devices is greater than the rating on the hub, this is likely the problem. If your USB hub is not powered, you will have check your computer specs to see what power rating is on the USB ports. A side note, I had so much problem with USB3 hubs, I reverted back to USB2 hubs. All the controls and controller boards I have were USB 2 anyway. There is a piece of software called USBDeviceView that can also help you troubleshoot USB problems. Hope this helps. January 9, 20215 yr Author It would seem the problem results from opening ATC or VFR Map on a second monitor. When I click on ATC to acknowledge an instruction, the USB seem to freeze. The answer is to click on the main screen. Surely this should not happen? In FSX I used to fly with 2D cockpit with MCDU and Pedastal open on other monitors.
