Offline terrain data with Bing Map enabled

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I'm currently flying at African Rift Valley, i'm seeing some offline terrain textures patches at some areas, not Bing ones. Anyone has encountered this at any other areas?

Yes.  You should try Lake Natron.  Should be beautiful, but most of it is totally spoilt by missing texture data.

Not much you can do.  If Bing doesn't have the satellite / aircraft photo data, then it can't show it.

You can check these areas without coverage by simply looking at Bing maps in your browser.  Select aerial view instead of road view, then zoom in - big black squares!

Just to say, Google maps isn't much better for lake Natron either.  Maybe the planes that take the more detailed photos are banned from flying over the lake due to the mass of birds there.

I say bring back the SR-71 - that would sort it!

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.
