Autopilot drops GTN 650 at waypoints

Featured Replies

I'm new to X-plane, and hope the group can help with a small problem.  I fly the stock C172 with the G1000, and have added the Reality XP GTN.  Here's the issue:  the autopilot drops the GPS a few seconds after reaching the waypoint. The autopilot begins the turn, the GPS indicator clicks off after a few seconds, and the autopilot stops the turn.   Clicking NAV or APR restores the GPS to the autopilot.

My guess is that I have an incorrect setting for the Reality XP GTN plug-in, but the manual isn't helpful.  Ideas?

I agree with this issue. It disconnects the autopilot regularly. I’m using the RealityXP GTN650 running in the RealSimGear GTN650, 2 G5s that are using Air Manager software, and the GFC500 hardware from RealSimGear. It’s a very nice panel for serious SIM instrument work, but very dependent on other software providers.

One problem with RealityXP for me is no technical help from their developers. Very nice products, but all of us users have to solve problems and help other users.

RealSimGear technical help is good, but since they use third party software providers like Air Manager & RealityXP, their products depend on software of others to sell their products. MOUs are needed between interdependent system providers if they don’t exist already.

I don’t believe this is a RealityXP plugin issue.

There are X-Plane 11 datastreams to deal with as well, so many software solutions have to play together depending on how we are set up.

Hi,

This has been documented in this forum in the past: the G1000 is also a GPS system and XP11 doesn't permit overriding the G1000. Therefore it is not meant to be working with the GTN. There is a possible workaround which is sometimes working when enabling the GTN setting "Auto-Update Simulator
GPS Waypoints" (p12 RXP User's Manual).

HI,

Is the autopilot still disconnecting on your system with the same aircraft if you physically disconnect the GFC500 hardware?
