Or just create a separate, bare-bones User Profile for XP and use that for all your simming needs, switching as and when you need. You can remove all the fancy visual tricks for the desktop, remove wallpaper, switch off screensavers, stop programs from running, leave out all the desktop icons that aren't sim related, etc. etc. Then use FS Autostart to auto-stop any of the proccesses you don't need (and automatically start them again when you end the sim session).
