I LOVE FSX VERY SURPRISING PERFORMANCE

Featured Replies

These are my first screenshots ever so I hope that they show up. I wanted to capture how well FSX is running for me.I just installed FSX and have made none of the identified tweaks yet but it is running very smooth with good framerates.I just upgraded my hardware two weeks ago and would have liked to have seen this kind of info and these pictures when deciding what to buy so I thought that this might help someone else.I took one shot in the rain with detailed clouds at dusk. There is quite a bit of autogen trees and buildings (houses). The other shot is a view of downtown LA and the mountains. I am very pleased with the standard mesh. I think once the default textures and landclass are replaced by better ones it will look great.FSX settings include1280 x 1020mesh 100%no bloomno traffic (have not tried yet)dense autogen with large radiusGeneral notes:The Core 2 Duo is unbelievably fast to the point of making you giggle out load and I am an AMD fan.The video card having 512 MB stopped all stutters.I hope that this helps someone who may be deciding what to do with a hardware purchase. Does this run as fast as FS9...absolutely not. In fact just so you know I can run FS9 now with everything maxed out at 1600x1200 with FSAA and Ansio 16x and average ~ 50fps. My system is listed below.Take care

Is your scenery complexity also at dense? Also, what is your water setting? When you max the water, scenery complexity, and autogen, then goto New York City take a screen shot. Then come back here tell us what the frame rate is.

Don't want to guess wrong.I am planning to play this weekend so I will get more setting info and see what NYC or other places do. I'm sure that I can bring my system to it's knees before maxing out the settings because it is so different than FS9. For example, The setting I had it on for these shots (dense I think) is equivalent to FS9 on "very dense". In fact it is worse for my machine because there are so many different tree types. It really breaks up the repetitive look but I know it is tough on the machine. Anyway, I'll post more later and by the way I "think" the water is on 1x High but if I recall my video card can push that a bit more without dying.

Thats about right you should get about 15 to 22 over New York with 15% AI for planes and 5% car traffic.

Yeah you can do well without traffic. Turning on cars and air traffic, boats etc, will bring your system to its knees (depending on where you fly, like in big cities) But you can enjoy it without traffic - at least I do, sometimes!
