If it's MSFS 2020, the best way to proceed is.

Start MSFS and wait until aircraft is on tarmac ready to fly.

ALT+Tab to come out of full screen

Start MCE using desktop icon, wait until it has completed loading and revert back to full screen.

Although it's possible to start MCE first, followed by the sim, when you go through various simulator settings screens, the latter sends multiple events which cause MCE to acknowledge it's switching back and forth bertween flight mode and dialog mode. It needs to make sure the last aircraft and location it detected are still elevant, hence the perceived freeze.

Thats the way I've been trying, interestingly enough in my case at least, loading mce after loading fs, but before loading a flight seems to be the only time it doesn't indefinitely hang. Or its a intermitent fluke, time shall tell.
