March 2, 20215 yr Hi all. I'm confused whether it's best to use the Oculus app or SteamVR. I am not that tech savvy on these things and I only use MSFS and I have the Quest 2. Are the any benifits from either using Oculus or Steam, and as I understand it, you should only use one or the other and not both. Is this true. Thanks
March 2, 20215 yr You can use either Steam Or Oculus separately or together. Usually, once run for the first time, Steam apps show up in the Oculus library and vice-versa. You can even have some control over this via the Oculus tray tool. My personal experience is that things tend to run a bit more smoothly via the Oculus app, as it is of course the HMD's native software, and also tends to have the better/smoother ASW implementation, though Steam is catching up a bit. The major advantage to buying a particular title on Steam is they tend to have frequent sales, and that you are not semi-wedded to the Oculus ecosystem if you later buy and prefer another brand of HMD.
