Carenado Planes 182Q and Dakota

Featured Replies

For my first upgrade/purchase, I am thinking about buying the Carenado Cessna 182Q/Dakota package that is on Christmas special at Carenado web site. What are your opinions on these two planes when added to FSX Deluxe Version. Items I was wondering about:1. Acceptable FPS (Does it run slower than the Built in Cessna 172)? 2. Can you save the downloaded package(s) on a CD as a permanent backup? 3. Does it requires codes to be entered or web based sw verification to install/run? Is Re-Installation after Un-install a hassel? 4. Does the GPS system work in both planes in FSX? 5. Any items that don't work correctly in FSX for these planes? I like the included Cessna 172 (and other GA/Prop planes) in FSX and would like others that are similar or better. My PC specs:Dell 3.0 Ghz Pentium D1.5 GB 533Mhz DDR2 Memory256MB ATI 600 PCIe Video19" Digital LCDCreative Integrated SoundThanks in Advance for Opinions.Flt300Z

I bought the Cessna 182RG from them. It was ok. I didnt notice any real difference in performance from original FSX aircraft although i wasnt highly impressed with the guage setups. Normally an rpm guage shouldnt have to be displayed with a button.I also bought the archer/dakota holiday pack. same thing with the guages i didnt like the setup. And i was really really annoyed when i discovered the hour meters are stuck on 8.85 and dont function at all.I sent them an email but have yet to get a reply. You can instant download them and keep them backed up. No sense in getting a whole CD ROM for about 10 mb's of data.

Davo,Thanks for response. I bought the 182Q/Dakota pack today and am pretty happy with both so far. At 10 bucks a plane for holiday special, it's a pretty good deal. I downloaded them, about 52MB for the 2 planes plus the 2004toFSX patch (easy download with broadband). The 182Q is quite good and the Dakota is better than I thought it wold be, since it is older in it's development cyle. As an aside, I got errors when I tried to purchase/download at the Careando.com site, I ended up purchasing and downloading at the Fspilot.com. I didn't see it offered here at avsim, or I would have purchased it here :-) Merry ChristmasFlt300z

Yea the dakota is nice with the extra horsepower compared to the archer. I used to fly an archer at a place i worked with with my boss who was a certified naval pilot instructor. Actually I felt like i was flying my VW beetle .As fot the cessna 182 you can copy the complete aircraft folder from FS2004 and it works direct in FSX. The RG didnt so thats why i bought it.You can reach me on IRC EFNET #FlightSimulatorX too if ya want.Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and everyone else.DaveoESSB
