What do they use?

What does FS9 and FSX use to display the virtual cockpit? Direct3D? I am asking because right now - in both FSX and FS9 - I am getting really attrocious frame rates in the virtual cockpit. Every other view mode maxes out the FPS (to 25). I am running a EVGA 7600 GS 256 MB / AGP 8x. Anyone?

Same display for both 2d and VC.. It's common to see a slighthit in the VC vs the 2d, but it shouldn't be too bad. I don't see a great difference here. Are you full screen or windowed?Wonder if any conflicting video drivers? Something is funkysomewhere. BTW, I fly only VC.. 2d panels are dead for me..Have been for a couple of years. So obviously, I'm not having much trouble with the VC's, and my video is only a 128m 9800pro.MK

I don't think there are any conflicting drivers....I'm Windowed too. Full Screen is the same thing for me...A few days ago I had the VC running at 24 FPS, but every 2 seconds or so it would drop down to around 10-14 FPS for 2 seconds, then jump back up. Nothing was running the background at the time.

If it helps at all, it does it in FS2002 as well (all though not as apparent). I play the game Live For Speed, and I have no frame rate issues inside the car.

You're giving us way too little information to help. It sounds like this is a new problem for you?I'd look into system issues. For instance, I just started getting much worse performance, and it turned out I was running out of disk space (too many FS downloads). Defragging would help me, too.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180
