December 27, 200619 yr I just flew another short leg - this time while recording the flight. Is it just me or is the default flight recorder in FSX almost useless? The playback (highest quality, 1/4 sec) here is extremely jerky (It really looks like a 1fps slideshow) although I have now somewhat fluid (~20fps) framerates - gears and flaps, anything, won't operate in playback. Traffic is not visible. Sound is all over the place. Also, any ILS approach with the default planes is extremely inaccurate at short final, because at about 800-400 AGL and about 1-2 miles from the airport the localizer or wind seems to shift (wake turbulence?) making the plane shift violently to either direction - well above the published DH for the selected ILS approach (any Cat). The plane is then unable to catch up with the localizer and the only thing to save me from certain death is to disengage the AP and fly down by hand. This is without Active Sky. AS in FS9 used to display the same vortex/wake turbulence with certain add-ons.Maybe it's because of the FIBER_FRAME setting which allocates more CPU cycles to the scenery - or is it just me? Humm.
December 27, 200619 yr Author The default vid recorder is jerky. I don't know that this is really a "bug" per se. It's just not as precise as some of the aftermarket recorders, for example.I have not noticed any problems with ILS on short final. Perhaps what you are describing was a little turbulence (which is very improved in FSX). I always hand-fly my ILS approaches. That's just the way I like to do it. I too use ActiveSky but I don't use the wake turbulence option because I had weird things happen with it in the past. My FIBER_FRAME val is the default 0.33 right now. I've experimented with 0.20 and 0.25 and frames were nice but in big city areas it brought on blurries to I'm back to 0.33 and no blurries. :)RhettAMD 3700+ (@2530 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
