Scenery Issues

Recommended Posts

Dear All,

May I ask the learned FS2004 fliers who participate in this forum for some help fixing 2 problems that I've encountered recently.  They are probably related, but I don't know.

Firstly, in Europe (including the UK), the coastlines are jagged lines with 90 degree corners.  This is also true for lakes, for example Lake Geneva.

Secondly, if I want to fly in Europe, I cannot go straight from Meigs Field to the selected airport because the sim just hangs.  Instead, I have to go via Asia (Hong Kong) and eastern Europe (for example Moscow) and then to my selected airport.

I have no issues flying in the USA, which is where I tend to do most of my flying as I belong to several American virtual airlines..

I was wondering if anyone out there has has a similar experience and how this was fixed.

Best regards,

Peterwk

Peterwk,

Your first problem is caused by default files being deleted or at least de-activated, while not being corectly re-placed by addon scenery files covering the same area(s).

Sounds as though your default EURW folder is missing or misplaced.

Your second problem is related to your first one, namely the absence of or the de-activation of default files.

These types of problems are not directly fixable by any 100% reliable means, so you will most probably need to firstly uninstall (what's left of) your FS2004, then remove any residual files/folders and finally you will need to re-install your FS2004 from the four CDs, etc. etc.

You could initially try to re-instate your EURW folder from your backups or from your installation CDs but by the sounds of your problem, there could be more damage.

Good luck

Hans

Hi Hans,

Many thanks for your help.

I knew I could rely on this forum to help me resolve my problem.

The problem was in the scenery.cfg file. I've now added the missing scenery areas and it's fine now.

Best regards,

Peterwk
