RXP GTN 750 VNAV Function

Featured Replies

Hello

Can you engage the VNAV function in the RXP GTN 750 within Xplane to get not only the TOD but have the plane follow the X% gradient to each way point on the flight plan in a STAR?

I could not find anything on this subject within the RXP Manual. If anyone is aware of a video showing a step by step guide or how to engage and execute this function I would really appreciate some feedback

I am flying the Laminar Vision Jet SF50 with G1000. I have Navigraph subscriptions and my Xplane is updated regularly.

Regards,

Hi,

I believe this has been discussed in the forum a few times already.

To keep it short: vertical coupling for the "enroute" phase is only available in the real device with a Garmin GFC Autopilot (IIRC).

AND when there is baro-VNAV input to the GTN. Not all RW installations are equiped with it.

It would be great if the GTN model exposed the VNAV information in a way that those of us with GFC 500s could make use of.

Not sure about that.  At least the Mooney I fly can do VNAV, but doesn't have baro-VNAV capability for approaches.

Of course it would be great but what GFC 500 gauge are you referring to specifically?

I'm using Air Manager with the Reality XP GTN.  Air Manager has a GFC 500 panel and G5s which work well together with the GTN.  All in all, it's a pretty accurate simulation of the real thing, with the exception of the VNAV capability.  I think the G5 / GFC 500 / GTN combination is going to become increasingly common in real life, so may be of interest.

I wondered whether it was at least possible to expose datarefs showing what the GTN wanted to do for Vnav, allowing someone else to modify the GFC 500 code (which is open) to do what's required.  The G5 code isn't open as far as I can see though, so it may need some co-operation with Sim Innovations.

@Paul Ruskin

I can't promise anything right now, but I keep a note of this for the future. Thank you for your feedback!

Late to this thread but I agree. GFC 500/ single or dual g5 and GTN 650/750 is a common set-up for mid-market aircraft. It would be nice to have them to practice on in Reality-XP.
