Changing the splash screens

Featured Replies

An unimportant question : can we change the splash screen with our own ?

You most certainly can!

(The following paths are for my Steam installation on my G: drive. Both the Steam Client and MSFS 2020 are installed in my G: drive).

There are three files you can change:

  1. G:\SteamClient\steamapps\common\MicrosoftFlightSimulator\Packages\fs-base-onboarding\images\onboarding.jpg
  2. G:\FlightSim\Official\Steam\fs-base\missions\Common\LOADING\BOOT\background_loading.jpg
  3. G:\FlightSim\Official\Steam\fs-base\missions\Common\LOADING\FreeFlight\LOADING_FREEFLIGHT.jpg

File 1 is the first screen you see after starting MSFS (and after the company video clips, if enabled) and is the background while "Checking for Updates" is shown.

File 2 is the background while the loading progress bar is displayed along with the latest "World Update" info tiles are shown.

File 3 is the background while a flight is being loaded.

The locations for an MSStore installation should be similar. Just a guess, but for file 2 and 3, replace "Steam" with "OneStore". For file 1, locate the folder that contains "FlightSimulator.exe" and it should be in a subfolder there, probably "Packages\fs-base-onboarding\images\onboarding.jpg".

Have fun!
