April 30, 20215 yr Does anybody know how to calculate Density Altitude (ft) from A:vars availiable In FSX? I am trying to modyfy TextInfoGauge by Rick Federmann to show Density altitude, but I cannot find any way to calculate it from A:vars availiable in FSX. Any help is welcome! -ernst i5-2500k @3.3GHz l 8GB l GTX560TI FSX l Orbx l AS16+ASCA l Win7-64
May 4, 20215 yr Author OK, problem solved ... Density altitude can be calculated from pressure altitude: density altitude = pressure altitude + [120 x (OAT – ISA Temp)] and pressure altitude is: pressure altitude = ((standard pressure – current pressure) * 1000 ) + field elevation ISA temp can be calculated from the A:Var "(A:Standard ATM Temperature, Rankine)" given in "Rankine" (see wikipedia) At least it works for me.... August 18, 20214 yr Commercial Member Pressure altitude is actually a variable in the sim, no need to calculate it. It's name is "PRESSURE ALTITUDE". Density altitude is found by pressureAltitude + 118.6 * (ambientTemperature - ISA Temperature). It does not have to be in rankine, celsius works fine. Ed Wilson Mindstar AviationMy Playland - I69
