May 3, 20215 yr I like finding nice little out of the way places in this sim, and I also like exploring the big tourist hot-spots too. I noticed Jan had posted some pix of his Optica repaints shot over Sydney and thought "ahh, haven't been there for a while", so off I went. I can do that in the sim! Ain't it great? Just one over the airport as I turned round and headed off towards Bondi Some of the shipping in the harbour Bondi below. Going to follow the coastline round to that point in the middle distance then turn in and head up the Harbour to the Bridge etc. Heading back in now Nearest name I could see on LNM for this little bay/cove was Reid Park, but don't know if that's the name for this or not Looks like a nice place Heading for the Harbour Bridge. Remember the default monstrosity? OK, getting to feel reasonably comfortable flying this thing now, so time to get silly Back over the Bridge this time I'd spotted a place with a marked out heli-pad at the end of the point just up from Bondi, so more in hope than expectation I thought I'd head back and try and land there. Well, not much chance of a proper landing yet, I'm afraid. What usually happens with me is that I either slow down too much on the approach and have to put down early, or as in this case I make a decent approach and even get in to a sort of reasonable hover but then when I try and descend I end up shooting backwards and have to lift up and try again. I'll keep practicing and I'll get there in the end. This was actually my third approach after two previous "reverse overshoots" and I did land ok, but only with a bit of tree surgery to create a new landing pad maybe 30 metres to the right of the original. Still, at least I didn't end up in the water (this time <grin> - is this thing ever going to get floats?) As usual, all pix 4k, ultra settings, LoD now at 350 as a compromise. Oh, and Bijan's Seasons pack. Enjoy - I did! cheers, Andy Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case.
