Can I get access to the models of default landmarks?

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I've been trying to see if I can get access to the default landmarks that are included in the world of MSFS. A look around the base scenery files didn't reveal anything, however. Are these landmarks streamed instead of being installed permanently? If they are streamed, does anybody have any idea how I can access them?

Best,
Benjamin

For the World Update landmarks, they're in the folders labelled 'microsoft-COUNTRYNAME-point-of-interest' in the 'modelLib.BGL' file.

I'm not sure where the base sim landmark models are stored.

They're not streamed, as you can still seem them if you set everything offline.

Thanks! I actually don't see nay fodler that starts with the name 'microsoft', where are these located?

But I believe I have found them. In the main install locations, in 'Official/fs-base" there is a scenery folder and a subfolder with POI in the name. There's a 1.4GB scenery file in there... I would bet that's the one...

They're in the Official folder. You'd have to have downloaded the world updates from the marketplace first to have them.

Yeah that seems to be it.

Stupidly I just realized that, in fact, the world updates don't automatically download... You have to 'buy' them and then download them. That also explains why the updated airports never appeared on the world map... Oh well. All good now. I now see the 'microsoft' folders in Official/OneStore, and the POIs within. Happy days!

Thanks for your help!
