How to stop map from re-centering?

I'm sure it's in the manual somewhere, but I can't find out how to stop the map from re-centering on my plane while in-flight on my sim. Sometimes ATC will assign a different approach than the one I used for my flight plan and have to change it accordingly and it helps to see how the approach, transition, etc. works out visually on the map before I plug it in my Garmin/FMC. It gets a little bit frustrating that I have to move the map back to the destination airport to work out the approaches after it automatically re-centers to my plane.
