June 27, 20214 yr My computer crashed with the blue screen of death. Then I did a complete system restore from a previous save point. Unfortunately Reality XP is not working anymore. Note: I am using Windows XP. Please see the image below. Edited June 27, 20214 yr by charliearon embed photo
June 28, 20214 yr Hi, These are the legacy RXP products which are no longer officially supported, but I'll try to assist here. The gauges are indicating there is a problem with the license. It is expected if you're reinstalling your system, but it isn't expected just by doing a system restore. Are you sure you didn't inadvertently deleted the C:\RealityXP folder or its content? Otherwise you'd have to reinstall with the ecommerce installers and your purchase key in order to re-authenticate your license.
July 3, 20214 yr Author To be more clear, I had a complete back up of my system. I installed my operating system to a new hard drive with my old back up. In addition, I attempted to follow your directions by uninstalling FLT and reinstalled FLT, but I was not prompted to use my license key. Therefore, there is no change at this time. How do I get prompted by the software to use the FLT-FSX.lic? Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.
July 3, 20214 yr Did you reinstall with the e-commerce installer or a saved backup copy of the RXP installer? Only the former will be re-authenticating your license using your .key file.
July 3, 20214 yr This is why, especially if you've reformatted your hard drive prior restoring. You can re-download the e-commerce installers directly from the RXP legacy website: http://reality-xp.com/store/index.html
July 7, 20214 yr Author Good news! I used the transfer to a different computer option and it worked! New question: How do I assign keystrokes to Reality XP-Garmin 430? How do I assign joystick button presses with Reality XP-Garmin 430? Note I am using the old version of Reality XP-Garmin 430 for FSX?
July 7, 20214 yr This sounds great, thank you for the update and for sharing this! You can configure keyboard shortcuts via a dedicated file which is is usually located here IIRC: C:\ProgramData\Reality XP\Common\Settings\RXPGNS.INI In order to use hardware buttons, you'll have to have a "driver" which can convert your button press events into keyboard shortcuts so that the GNS will receive the command when configured with the same keyboard shortcut in the .ini file. All of this should be documented in the manuals too! Edited July 7, 20214 yr by RXP
