Bugs in FSX sfter changing videocard

Featured Replies

I have an old computer running under Windows XP. No upgrades were made for years. I am quite happy with my old system, and I DO NOT want anything new, be it hardware or software. But recently my NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT card died, and I had to replace it with NVIDIA GeForce GT 730/ And severe issue appeared in FSX At first I blamed the card (which indeed was defective - it failed the stress test and hanged in other games), but after replacing it (with the same model) the bug did not go, while there is no problem in the 2-hours stress test and other games (MS Flight 2012, Il-2, Rise of Flight and X-plane 9 - that's all games I have). So the problem is FSX-specific:

In areas with may ground objects (autogen and fixed), especially when flying in a graphically complex plane, these objects can turn into vertical stripes going high in the sky, especially during head rotating (both from cockpit and external views, full-screen and windowed). Sometimes they disappear in several seconds, sometimes they stay, and you can even fly close tothem (while mostly they appear only in the distance)/ Also, the plane itself can turn into graphic mess when switching from internal to external view or back (witching from full=screen to window or back usually fixes it). When flying over terrain (even complex mountains, but with no buildings), there is no problem.

I have almost pure FSX with Acceleration pack - no add-ons (except for 3rd party a/c) or tweakers. I tried to adjust settings in the game and to change parameters [Display] TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT, [GRAPHICS] TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD, [Main] FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION, [BUFFERPOOLS] PoolSize in fsx.CFG - but they have no effect. I also tried both the newest version of drivers available for my system (368.81) and the one I used with the old card (340.52) All in vain, nothing changes. The problem appears immediately, even on a fresh-rebooted machine.

Any suggestions?

Make backups of your FSX.cfg file and scenery.cfg file.  That will force FSX to rebuild them the next time you start FSX.  Then follow this link and read how to delete and have FSX rebuild your shader cache.  See if those simple steps help.  Actually, do the shader cache step first, and start FSX.  Then the FSX.cfg file.  Then the Scenery, cfg file.  I suggest that order in case the shader cache is the issue.  If that is the case then you can leave your two .cfg files alone.

Follow what? I don't see any link in your post.

Do not know what happened.  Here you go.  Good luck. Hope this does it!

Nothing helped ^((( I deleted the Shades folder, renamed both CFGs, then even reinstalled the latest drivers and rebooted. The bug is still here.
