Automatic Flap Extension

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I'm not sure whether this is just an issue with the Flight1 Super King Air B200 or a feature in Prepar3d.

However, when I reduce speed to below 157kts, the flaps automatically extends fully without any input (uncommanded).

Can anyone assist?

Thanks

Have you checked your current flap bindings to see if they are mapped to any additional keyboard commands or joystick /quadrant buttons?

That was the first thing I thought of and as far as I can see, I only control my flaps through my Honeycomb Throttle quadrant. I've also deleted all assignments linked to the flaps.

That doesn't sound right. Does this Flight1 version of the KA B200 offer some kind of mode which simulates having a copilot who might be lowering the flaps for you on approach? An IAS of 157 Kts is Vfe for full flaps. Or perhaps there is a configuration file of some type which allows new users to automate certain functions. Does the automatic flap extension only happen on approach (low power setting), and/or when the gear is down? You certainly would not want to suddenly get full flaps because your speed is below 157kts on initial climb out after takeoff (note Vx is about 100Kts, Vy about 125 Kts).

Also, after deleting any flap key bindings I would suggest restarting the sim just to 'make sure' the changes take effect.

If all else fails to fix the problem, as a last resort you could try uninstalling and reinstalling the aircraft.

I don't think it ever did. Though, I've only owned v1 of the B200 for FSX, I haven't upgraded to P3D. The configuration editor did not have any keybinding settings if I can remember, it just controlled things like exterior details like doors, realism options like hot starts, maintenance, as well as choosing what kind of interior texture will be used.

You might want to disable the "Flap Damage" setting in the Realism page, I'm not sure if that has any affect, but you might as well try and see.

Problem solved. It seemed to have been a problem with the HoneyComb Config Tool from Aerosoft. Uninstalled that and now everything is working OK. No idea what it was in the tool that caused the issue.

There's probably some binding somewhere in the Honeycomb profile you were using that conflicted with your flaps. Can you remember what profile you were using although you have it sorted now?
