August 23, 20214 yr I installed this update today. While working on some approaches, I noticed that several airports had disappeared completely from the GNS. It took me a while to figure out what happened: if anyone loses access to airports usually in their GNS database, it is because this update changes an environment variable to point at an alternate aviation database. From the sticky at top of this forum announcing 2.4.21.6, it clearly states "New: includes optional Aviation DB 1607." The will be defaulted to install. To reverse this change, just delete the Windows environment variable "GNSADBFILE". Or, if you're more alert than me, you can simply opt not to install during installation process. Now, a question: What is this alternate db 1607? Why would we want it when it lacks so many airports? I lost 2 (including my home base), just in my immediate area... Thanks! Jerry
September 3, 20214 yr @jerrydavis Did you use a custom database already or do you mean you've lost approaches that were originally included in the older DB (~2010) included by default with the GNS trainer?
