August 25, 20214 yr While contemplating getting the F-14 I've been flying a few similar things in the sim to see if I really wanted it. Got the F-15 and it's a looker, but not totally sure about it for actually flying in - feels a bit awkward to move around. Got the Eurofighter Typhoon and I rather like that, but it's hard to keep it down below about 1000 kts without turning the speed-brakes on all the time, and then I thought I'd try some of my conversions. Hadn't done that since SU5 as I'd heard that conversions were playing up since then. And that's true.I have this MiG-29 and a J-15 Flanker and in both cases the cockpits are now pretty useless, in that not only are the instruments u/s (always were anyway) but now the HUD visibility area is blocked with either a blank rectangle or a graphic, so forward visiblity is pretty much non-existent. But with the aid of Little Nav Map on my second screen I just about managed a couple of flights around Belgrade, and although I had a couple of very inelegant landings (or "crashes" as I believe they're known) they were workable flights to be explored via replay. So here's a few shots from the MiG-29 flight Low, but not slow! This is where it starts to get challenging That landing might look ok, but with no instruments or cockpit view it was way too fast and what I haven't shown is the almighty bounce that came next. And the underside of a MiG-29 is not a particularly pretty thing, especially when it's pointing skyward from the grass, Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used
