Did You Check for All Updates?

Featured Replies

I thought I had.  At the time of SU5 and the hotfix I thought I had also downloaded all updates from the Marketplace.  Turns out I was wrong.  When I started up yesterday I noticed that there were more updates listed, so either there were additions, the update process didn't finish or I somehow missed them.  There were 19GB worth!  So, I ran all of them.

When I restarted I lost my freelock view right-click/hold mouse control.  Now I couldn't manually use freelock to change cockpit or external camera views - everything was locked.  I'm guessing this is part of the mouse adjustment for X-Box that has affected so many users and it didn't hit me till now.  I eventually found that I had to:

  • Create a new mouse profile
  • Assign a new Control Panel View axis to the freelock (Axis X)
  • Assign a new Control Panel View Pitch axis (Axis Y)

This turned out to be very tedious to achieve but it resolved the issue and I got freelock control back.  Then all of my views began a slow pan right.  It turns out that there was an assignment of the freelock axis to an unused toggle on my TWCS throttle.  Since this had never happened before I can only surmise it was also connected to the update - it either added the link to my TWCS profile or affected a previous assignment I wasn't aware of.  I removed the assignment and all was well.

So, if you haven't run all of the updates, watch out for these possible affects...

My opinion is that the entire control interface in the sim (menus and sim) have be whacked a bit due to the Xbox port.  I see nuances all over the place, some good - some bad.

Go to options > controls options > mouse
select default profile and save changes

Also try mid-click

Tried the default profile early on - it didn't help.  Also, the mid-click didn't work.  These are probably valid suggestions for people to try as everyone's set-ups and peripherals are a little different.

However, I noted at the beginning of this thread that I had resolved the issue (for me) by adding commands to the freelock axis.  It now works well.  I'm guessing that this is all a hangover from changes to mouse functions made for X-Box.
