September 9, 20214 yr For those familiar or interested there is a feature of the P3D program called SIM Director that can be used for scenario development and scenery manipulation. The program worked in V4.5 but has been broken since V5 arrived. It appeared to work again with V5.1 HF1 but this appears to have been a fudge used to get it to work but failed to address the underlying problem which is this: A filter and switch was applied to Sim Director for it to basically ignore any object that was not a proper sim model or stock scenery object (such as autogen objects). The switch or filter was placed in the controls for sim director which were in the applications settings GUI. Doing this would allowed SIM DIRECTOR to load. The functionality was very good with this filter (excluding unnamed objects) but you could not access any other scenery or sim object using SIM DIRECTOR. Selecting OFF for the filter that is now list all non stock scenery or model objects, such as ORBX libraries or other addon libraries returns the program to the same state it was in before HF1 that is SIM Director overloads the CPU and effectively stalls P3D in that state. CPU runs at 99% and SIM DIRECTOR never loads. (I let it run overnight just to check - no change still hung!) So the only fix is to completely reinstall P3D which will give you back SIM Director with the defaul filter switched ON. Basically the program will not handle listing scenery objects above about a 1500 threshold (Filter ON). The fix was not a fix but a fudge! There is no other means of fixing this as Sim Director is controlled by DLL and there are no settings in the P3D config file or elsewhere to allow you to switch the filter back ON to restore Sim Director. This is a huge dissapointment that this flaw remains as the feature was very very good and what you could do with it very impressive. This has all been posted extensively at LM's P3D forum. No responses so far. This post is provided as a more detailed explanation of why some users say it works for me but for everyone else it is busted and frustrating. (Filter ON it works, filter OFF it busts the program and you will not get it to run again without a complete reinstallation of P3D and not accessing anything but stock LM objects!.
