September 20, 20214 yr Been shopping around for a head tracking program and gave some serious thought to TrackIR since it has a proven track record (sorry, not sorry, for the pun). Then I discovered Tobii (https://gaming.tobii.com/products/). I have to admit, I'm *very* intrigued by the idea of it using eye gaze to track instead of head movements. That would be such a game changer. It's not, of course, cheap, as it clocks in at $230. MSFS, alas, doesn't support it but according to the feedback charts, it's certainly being looked into. In fact, rumor is that they will include support for it after all. Obviously I'm not going to buy it until it's definitely confirmed and installed, but wanted to reach out to any Tobii users on here, if any, as it has support on FSX and DCS but understand it works on other sims via FaceTrack NoIR with a plug-in. In the meantime, I'm considering the SmoothTrack app on my phone, especially now that the developer's included USB functionality to reduce latency. For $10, that's hard to beat, but I also don't want to throw away that $10, lol! Any people on here who use SmoothTrack? Recommend or no?

That would be such a game changer You need to think through why you believe it would be a game changer. For now, gaze tracking currently isn't supported in MSFS anyway so it's just a more expensive head tracker. But even if they choose to support gaze tracking, there is no clear model of what it would do. I tried the Tobii v1 in FSX and to the extent that the gaze tracking worked at all, using it to move the view was clunky and illogical. Id get a TrackIR :) MarkH https://www.youtube.com/@AlmostAviation AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D / 64Gb DDR5 / Zotac RTX 5070 Ti / 2560 x 1440 display

To track without moving my head and just using my eyes? Isn't that enough of a sell? 🙂

How are you expecting the view to be controlled by tracking your gaze? In the FSX version it worked like using the hat switch - in other words, you stared at the left hand side of the screen and it started to pan the view left until you looked at the centre, at which point it stopped panning. This is a completely unnatural way of moving the view and in practice it was pretty useless.
