October 12, 20214 yr Hello fellow flyers, I currently do have I5 9600k clocked at 4.6 with CM 240mm AIO Cooler and RTX 2060 Super. I consider going for a 9900k and a 3080 TI without having to change my mobo, ram and so on. Do you think it'd be a worthy upgrade ? I'm running X-plane 11 and P3D5 at 1440p resolution with high-end settings. October 15, 20214 yr This is almost the same upgrade I did and for the same reasons. You will get a slight boost in the FPS department but the real improvement is 2 extra cores, this helps a lot with terrain/scenery loading. Now for the 3080 upgrade you will see a significant boost in performance in P3d v5. Between the 2 a very worthy upgrade from my personal experience. For the record my upgrade was a 9600k to 9700k and 2080 to 3090. I did try a 9900k at the same time but it was not a good overclocker so I returned it and kept my 9700k. However next month when the new stuff comes out from Intel I may decide to do an upgrade again. October 18, 20214 yr You'll have to make sure your power supply can handle the 3080 Ti as it's a power hungry component, a minimum of 750 watts is recommended. If you have a PSU rated below that, your PC will likely just light up briefly...then shut down. Also, considering the resolution and software you use, I personally think the 3080 Ti is overkill, not to mention it would create a performance bottleneck. I'd recommend a 3060 Ti instead as it tends to offer the best bang for your buck (assuming you can find one at MSRP...I got mine for $400 USD from Best Buy). It's not as power hungry but will still give you plenty of eye candy power, most likely maxing out your graphical settings for X-Plane and P3D. Now, if you use Ortho scenery, on the other hand...that's a whole different ball of wax.
