FAIB 748 and 748F double strobe

Hi,

Using the AIGAIM AI package, I can't figure out why the B747-8 and B747-8F by FAIB are double strobe like an Airbus. 

I checked everything I know of in the aircraft.cfg:

atc_type=Boeing

atc_model=B748 in both

and other things that may not matter to AILRB:

ui_manufacturer=Boeing

Also manufacture and type are in the title of the AI Entry.

Is it just an 'FAIB thing' and everyone sees the same thing?  Just curious.

Check the fuel tanks configuration or if the original AI Lights were created double before scanning the model with AILRP..

I don't see anything 'obvious' in the two configs. 

I have a [LIGHTS] section and a [FSREBORN_LIGHTS_CTRL] section, but I see that in other configs also.

Here are the two configs, 748 and 748F respectively. I omitted the [flightsim.x] sections to shorten them up.

I downloaded the original FAIB packages, and I don't see anything different from the ones downloaded by the AIG AIManager. There is nothing in the readme concerning fuel tank configurations, but it does mention that the wingflex lights are built into the model, like the other FAIB models.

In FS9 this is an AI aircraft and will NOT BE VISIBLE in the aircraft selection window in flight simulator. However if you want it to be visible in the aircraft selection window, you have to edit the "FAIB_7478.air" file with the program "AirEd" (available (if not corrupt) at AVSIM "aired.zip"), change "Aircraft Type" from "2" to "0".
In FSX you will need to add a panel and sound folder for the plane to be visible in the aircraft selection menu.

Using FS9? There are no wing flex models for FS9 since it does not support skinned animation.
Using Wing flex models in FSX? Make sure you have skinned animations turned on in the graphic options.
Don't want wing flex in FSX? Use the NWF (No Wing Flex) models instead of the regular models, make sure to uncomment the needed light section in the aircaft.cfg file or you will not have navigation lights and strobes.

To prevent performance issues you must copy the content of the included "PLACE INSIDE YOUR FSX MAIN TEXTURE FOLDER" folder into your FSX main texture folder.

Inside the EXTRA folder you will find the LOGO LIGHT ALWAYS ON folder which includes special always on textures designed to give you logo light illumination at all times similar to UT2 models.
Simply copy these textures to your MAIN FSX TEXTURE folder and overwrite.
Because of changes designed to reduce memory footprint this always on logo light will become brighter once the aircraft actually turns on the logo lights as opposed to older FAIB models where this did not happen.

Location for Shockwave lights are included in the aircraft.cfg's, however you still need to un-comment them.

---FSX Only Known Issues---

After landing and generally when braking AI pilots will tend to lock the wheels.
Lights such as strobes, nav lights etc tend to move out of position over time.
Several areas of the plane cannot be lighted using the light map, this is an FSX limitation.
Models with wing flex have weak wingtip lights which diminish over distance quickly and are NOT visible from great distances, you can use the NWF (No Wing Flex) models to avoid this and use the standard aircraft.cfg lights which are visible.

Issues fixed by SP1:

FSX: 
1. Inboard Kruger animation adjusted.
2. Alpha testing parameters relaxed to prevent night lighting smears on certain paints with certain graphic cards.

The original FAIB 747 have no strobes at all.. It looks like the AIGM strobes must be inside the .MDL file. I wonder if AIGM used a generic name for the strobes effects which used by one of their airbus models, in which case would cause a conflict as you see.

That is way above what I know...I hope this is the right way:

Using ModelConverterX, looking in the attached object editor, the strobe light effects are listed below:

747-8i: fx_FAIB_7478_strobe

747-8F: fx_FAIB_7478F_strobe

These are the same as what I found in the original FAIB download. 

In the AIGAIM Effects folder, these effects have been renamed by AILRP:

fx_FAIB_7478_strobe.fx.ailrp

fx_FAIB_7478F_strobe.fx.ailrp

That about the extent of my expertise!  Lol!
