Waypoints don't display

The only waypoints I see on the map are those on my flight plan.  The top menu button that is labelled "show waypoints on map" as well as the pull down menu under View-->Navaids-->Show Waypoints don't do anything.  What am I missing?

You can try to reset the display settings in the view menu. Maybe the detail level is too low. You can also reset details to default in the view menu or by pressing Ctrl+0.

A screenshot of the whole LNM window (including title and statusbar) can help to diagnose the problem.
