October 25, 20214 yr On a flight through inclement weather in the TBM I decided to try the weather radar. Before I turned on the radar I first activated NEXRAD to get an overall picture: It appeared that I had some heavy cells ahead of me so I activated the Radar: At this point the heavy precip was below me and that's what it indicated. When I began descent, I took a look ahead in horizontal mode: The pictures painted were fairly accurate. When in the dark or open areas it was just a light rain or everything was still. As I worked into the red zones the rain was heavy and turbulence increased (I stayed out of the magenta zones). Paint me impressed. Randall Rocke
October 25, 20214 yr Bear in mind the NEXRAD is delayed 15-20mins (at least the real one - who knows what MSFS is depicting) Tried it in the CJ4 the other night and it looked good as well. Fairly accurate (looking) surprisingly. Edited October 25, 20214 yr by Flyfaster_MTN002 SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.
