Cold and Dark Startup default JU52 1939

To get to a true cold and dark condition,start a flight on a ramp instead of a runway (e.g. start at ramp 319 at KLAX in Los Angeles). Starting on a ramp means MSFS will make condition cold and dark.

1939 is the old school Tante Ju.

1) Instruments view 5: (Handlebar / Camera / Cockpit/ Instrument/ Instruments 5)

Open red battery cover, push down Battery Master to ON, close cover.

2) Instruments 12: Uncover Wobble Pump, pump a couple times, recover the pump.

3) Instruments 7: Push 3 mixture levers forward (i.e. down).

4) Instruments 7: Set Parking brake (it defaults to OFF and will roll away otherwise).

5) Instruments 4: Ignition System setup: (this step is the key, the rest is easy to remember, will never start if this is wrong)!

Druckmindervintil clockwise (ON/AUS).......................PRESSURE REDUCING VALVE

Einspritzsperrhahn clockwise (ON/AUS).....................INJECTION SHUT-OFF VALVE

Vernebler counter-clockwise (OFF/ZU)....................NEBULIZER (a.k.a. the primer)

6) Instruments 5: Magnetos.

  a Set all 3 (White, Red, Green) to middle position (which is the BOTH position)

  b Push the big red center button Master Starter down.

  c Pull all 3 (White, Red, Green) up.

(The 3 black magneto levers (ignition timing) can be just left where they are: Spat (late) instead of Fruh (early).

7 Instruments 6: Open all 3 starter covers.

8 Instruments 6: Pull Engine 3 'Fuel Lubricant Supply' (fuel supply) lever 2 positions downward from top.

There are 4 positions: Top, Middle 1, Middle 2, Bottom. The 3rd one downward (Middle 2) is correct.

9 Instruments 6: Crack open Throttle 3 (push up slightly throttle 3).

10 Instruments 6: Pull up Engine Starter 3.  Wait for engine start and then do 8 and 9 again for engines 1 and then engine 2.

Note: I do believe the official checklist is wrong. They do not say in step 5 to set the nebulizer (primer) to OFF (counter clockwise). It will not start without doing this. Perhaps the gauge is just labeled confusingly as regards Off and On on the panel graphics.
