December 9, 20214 yr Everything seemed to be working A-OK - I was very pleased with the images and the performance of my new Reverb G2 while flying around San Diego with lots of add ons making pretty. But, I kept getting a message about Reshade 4.9.1 was trying to load some effects but did not have sufficient authority. Months ago I decided to stop using Reshade and had forgotten about it. SO - I used the Reshade installer to uninstall the software and it told me the uninstall was successful. Now when I try to start flight sim (with the G2 plugged in and WMR and OpenXR running with Sim launched by Steam VR or G2 unplugged from display port and no VR stuff activated) I hear all the nice loading sounds but end up with a solid black screen and a green GeForce Experience (with no lettering) in the top right and some kind of light shaded gray box in the bottom right. Task Manager says Flight Sim is using 32% of my i7-9700K and 43% of the RTX 3060 Ti GPU but nothing appears on the black screen - over a period of 30-minutes. When the HP G2 is connected - my 32" 1080p monitor stays black but the G2 shows me the house on the hill with all the options. Steam VR says the game is running but I can't seem to find it anywhere in the G2 world. Using Proc Mon I can see that flight sim is endlessly talking to Open XR even when I have not started OpenXR/WMR/SteamVR and have the Reverb G2 disconnected from both the display port and the USB 3.0 connection. What have I done? How do I start Flight Sim with NO VR support of any kind? WHY is flightsime.exe trying to talk to OpenXR when I have not started any VR applications or support and have no VR hardware connected?
