old question but forgotten

ok so I will hold my hands up and i should know this but I cannot remember

Is msaa better than ssaa I only ask because i had mine set at 2 x msaa in settings and having it at 16 x ssaa i  get more fps 

I've done a quick check online elsewere and as far as I can tell ssaa is harder than msaa,so why am i getting more fps if thats the case?

I'm running a 3090 so is it that thats made the difference?
