December 21, 20214 yr ..as I am in the process of a full v5.3 HF1 installation, and had most always installed all my Orbx content in the vP3D (whatever) Root Folder, I am wondering, if that if one is running P3D v5.3 off of a SSD (which I am this xmas time off going to do by a clone operation to a Samsung EVO 870 2TB SSD) well, here's the question, unless you have all those Orbx (Global, this, that...) also on a SSD, rather than a spin-HD, or on the SSD in the P3D Root Folder...you will still introduce read-write speed in-load (pause/stutter/delay) of data to the sim as it runs...(Scenery in-loads, etc), so I'm going to with the latest install, still keep all my Orbx installed within the Root Folder, so that will be in-loaded by the speed of the SSD, and not an outboard spin-HD. My Samsung EVO 870 2TB is not as cheap (of course) as a comparable spin 2TB...so, on my system, only the C drive (EVO 860 1TB) and the new EVO 870 2TB will hold both P3D v5.3 HF1, and MSFS. Only flight sims with constant in-feed of scenery data is where I feel I get a leg-up using SSD's... High capacity HD's are still in my opinion, the much better choice to handle the hundreds of GB's of a user's software and back up collections. My take, anyway...
