January 4, 20224 yr Hi folks. I'm still that inexperienced guy trying to move up the learning curve. I have SimBrief and I watched videos of how to set up a flight plan and load it into the G1000 in the C172 stock plane (NXI G1000). I took off and then turned on the autopilot, assuming it would take over from there and fly the flight plan. However, it seemed the plane just kept circling around the airport, even though I could see the proper flight path on the screen. All the while this was happening, the ATC kept asking to reach the proper altitude faster. Can someone give me some advice regarding what I was seeing. I actually quit before the plane ever reached the requested altitude. It was climbing but very slowly and when I tried to use the VS option to ask the autopilot to climb faster, I started immediately getting stall warnings. I would love some guidance, even if it is just links to videos. I feel like I almost have the hang of this but can't figure out why the plane kept circling instead of staying on the flight path. Thanks ...... Rob ONE MORE THING: Now as I'm watching the plane going around in circles around the origin airport, the autopilot is also creating stall warnings. The plane is not climbing anymore (still not at requested altitude) and the stall warning won't go off. Plane only going 45 KTS. MORE INFO: The GPS needle is following the flight path perfectly but when it changes direction, the plane does not change direction. I am sure it's something simple but it's really bugging me. Help is appreciated. Aircraft/Autopilot doesn’t follow the Flight Plan. January 5, 20224 yr Author Well, after watching a number of videos, I determined that I was just staying in ROL mode because I never hit the NAV button to put it in GPS mode. Once I did that the plane started accurately following the flight path. Another baby step ahead in the learning curve :-).
