Do I HAVE to reinstall FSX? Missing file!

Featured Replies

I don't know what I did, but I can no longer run FSX.My message says "Dem4kmbgl file is missing or damaged. Reinstall Flight simulator to restore or repair the file". Do I have to reinstall (which wouldn't be devastating since SP1 is coming, and it prefers a clean install) or can this be simply salvaged? Where can I get that exact file, and how could it have happened? The last thing I tried to install was the new file for the Baron's VC that is currently on the front page of AVSIM. But I don't think that could have affected a BGL file.I look forward to your help on this one.

Thanks Geofa,Unfortunately that did not work. I did a repair, but it cannot find things like Aerosoft Alcatraz and about 10 other scenery areas (including Cloud 9 scenery)...then it just CTDs.

Do you have a backup of your .dll file? That should take care of that. I understand if it doesn't work-I had to do a complete reinstall the other day-with also have to reload Cloud 9 etc.-a royal pain..http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg

Well, Geofa, since I don't have a backup of my .dll file, the "inevitable" presents itself! I think it's for the best that I reinstall everything.Thanks. Stan
