This app can't start

Featured Replies

Gaah. disaster... ran latest update, 2 nights ago. now when i try to open fs2020, i get "this app can;t start, see in microsoft store". i click the link and it just takes me to the game in the ms store (my account is linked at the top). and gives the option to play, as i own it.
clicking on play then opens the xbox app, with the option of which version, i have premium deluxe, and it states... you own this... clicking on it, brings up the cant open message. So i looked around online. reset the micrsoft store via powershell, tested GPO, ran every update going. troubleshooter says no issues
Then uninstalled, restarted, managed to get it to download via xbox app, selected the updates (126gb). left them to run, restarted again. tried to launch .... and...... This app cant start...
Totally lost now.
Anyone on here got any ideas, im missing my  daily flights.. im having to play golf!!

Many issues with getting MSFS to begin to update seem to be possible to solve by repairing Windows using the "Create Windows Installation Media" tool available from Microsoft here.

Can't hurt to try it for your issue too. Create a Restore Point and/or a backup (just in case) and click on "Download Tool Now". Use the tool, being sure to retain files and settings, and see how you get on. It doesn't format your discs, uninstall anything or lose any of your data.

Finally fixed it.
For anyone else suffering it.

It appears to be when an update runs, it corrupts the store login. Although it looks like you are all logged in fine, you are not.
So to fix.

Uninstall via xbox app
Reboot (reboots are vital, otherwise you end up in a loop like i  did)
Log out of MS store (do not log in.)

Install via xbox app (you may find that near the end of the 120gb mandatory update, it now finds the firewall)
Reboot

It should start up, as you havent altered the community folder, all data will be there. Whenever you start up, 1st make sure you are logged out of the store beforehand. let the xbox app auto log in
